I love it! Last year Harvick didn't even make the chase! He's havin a hell of a year! Hope he can keep it up for 10 more races!
I'm no fan of the current NASCAR points system but have to admit that with all the different scenarios circulating last night it was fun right down to the finish.
Stewart fans must be seeing red this morning. Junior dodged a big ol' brake disaster, Gordon hanging on by his fingertips, the Harvick pass for the win, etc.
Good night for ratings I'm sure.

Tony is the driver I choose to cheer for. I hate he is out of the chase ths year but the facts are there. He had a bad run of luck and that cost him. The team brought a car special built for Richmond and he wrecks it in practice. The team couldn't dial the back up car to run worth crap last night. Sure, I would love hor Tony to have a chance to defend his title and to miss it by 16 points is a bitter pill to swollow but the Race will go on.
After Jr and J. Gordon missed last year and Stewart this year I expect nest year they expand the field to 15 drivers or maybe expand the points to 500 instead of 400 within the leader.

From what I've heard there will be changes. Maybe expanding the point spread from first needed to get in even if not in the top ten.
Two years ago the system prevented Gordon from winning title #5 (he would have done so under the old system). I've got to believe some have considered that as well just because of the fan interest (mostly against) in seeing if he could win 2 more.
Junior being out last year probably hurt a bit in terms of $'s too.

I don't think this is his final year, he will probably drive the 88 car next year for Robert Yates.
I don't see how anyone could help but like Mark Martin.
